HOBBS, N.M. – LSU Shreveport women's soccer extended its unbeaten run in Red River Athletic Conference play with a 5-1 victory over the University of the Southwest on the road Thursday afternoon. The Pilots now sit at 4-5-0 overall and 3-0-0 in conference play, while the Mustangs fall to 0-9-0 overall and 0-3-0 in RRAC action.
The Pilots wasted no time getting on the board as Halee Hernandez struck just 32 seconds into the match to give LSUS the early advantage. Diana Leon doubled the lead in the 40th minute, finishing off a feed from Jillian Rogers. The Mustangs responded less than a minute later through Eliza Lopez, sending the match into halftime at 2-1.
LSUS pulled away after the break with three unanswered goals. Ashlin Fuentes opened the second-half scoring in the 51st minute, assisted by Ashley Moore. Rogers continued her playmaking with back-to-back assists, setting up Ella White in the 70th minute and Aida Monteserin just two minutes later to cap the scoring at 5-1.
Goalkeeper Elena Lopez went the distance for the Pilots, recording six saves. Southwest's Elena Moya finished with seven saves in 90 minutes of work.
The Pilots return home on Saturday, Oct. 4, hosting Texas College in The Swamp at 1 p.m.
