Pilots Pour in 108 to Advance to RRAC Semifinals

SHREVEPORT, La. — Top-seeded LSU Shreveport delivered an offensive clinic Tuesday night at The Dock, defeating Texas A&M-San Antonio, 108-86, in the Red River Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Tournament Quarterfinal.
The Pilots improve to 24-5 overall, while TAMUSA closes its season at 8-21.
LSUS shot a blistering 65.6 percent from the field and scored 56 points in the paint, turning efficiency into separation throughout the second half. After leading 60-47 early in the final period, the Pilots used a decisive stretch — highlighted by a Khi Wallace dunk and back-to-back free throws from Hayden Brittingham — to push the margin to double digits for good.
Brittingham led all scorers with 29 points to go along with eight assists and four rebounds, attacking downhill and finishing through contact. Emareyon McDonald added 22 points and four assists, while Alexzaye Johnson stuffed the stat sheet with 18 points, seven assists, and four steals. Wallace anchored the interior with 14 points and eight rebounds, helping LSUS control the glass and dominate the paint.
The Jaguars were paced by Carson Brown and Antwone Gonzales with 17 points apiece, while Josean Dembo contributed 14 points and five rebounds. Dezmon Dudley added 11 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. TAMUSA shot a solid 50.8 percent from the floor, but 18 turnovers and LSUS' relentless offensive rhythm proved too much to overcome.
The Pilots assisted on 24 of their 40 made field goals and forced 18 Jaguar turnovers, converting them into 19 points. LSUS built its largest lead of 24 late in the second half and never allowed TAMUSA to mount a serious comeback.
With the win, LSUS advances to the RRAC Men's Basketball Tournament Semifinals and will face Texas A&M-Texarkana on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in Alexandria, La.
