WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – LSU Shreveport men's soccer earned its fifth straight draw to open the season, playing to a 1-1 result against Williams Baptist University on Saturday afternoon. The Pilots now stand at 0-0-5 overall, while the Eagles move to 2-2-1.
The match saw LSUS take the initiative in the first half. In the 29th minute, Joel Trueb put the Pilots in front, finishing off a setup from Jaime Zani to make it 1-0. The advantage held through halftime as the Pilots pressed for a second goal but were turned away by Williams Baptist goalkeeper Marco Cisneros, who recorded nine saves on the day.
In the 80th minute, Ricardo Da Silva found the equalizer, pulling the contest level at 1-1. Despite a final push from both sides, neither team could find the game-winner.
Sondre Liahagen-Kolnes played the full 90 minutes in goal for the Pilots, anchoring the defense and keeping LSUS in control for much of the match.
LSUS will return home on Friday, Sept. 12, to face the University of Mobile. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at The Swamp.
